Ever Bilena Liquid Concealer

Image
my new beauty essential  I have a new beauty essential. I’ve always used Ever Bilena Stick Concealer; I mentioned quite a few times that it’s the best I’ve ever used. I find it even better than the super pricey international brands. When I went out shopping for some more Ever Bilena Stick Concealer, I found this newly released beauty, Ever Bilena Liquid Foundation. It comes in many shades (but I don’t know the rest, sorry, I am not being helpful..hahaha). I chose the Porcelain Shade because it’s the shade that matches my skin complexion. It says: *Lasts up to 15 hours- (It’s oh so true!) *Lightweight (I barely feel it’s there!) *Filter-finish skin (It completely covers my blemishes!) Let’s all try this!

My Typhoon and Blackout Essentials

Image
my Toshiba flashlight  Sperma candles, Royal matchsticks  Typhoons and blackouts are a common occurrence in my country. And at those times, it’s necessary to have an emergency light. Some of the people I know prepare rechargeable emergency lamps. I don’t. What if the blackout goes on for, let’s say, three days or more? How can they recharge the emergency lamp? For me, it makes no sense to prepare for the blackout yet the device they use depends on electricity. Well, to each his own… This is the reason why I just have my flashlight, candles, and matches with me. When I showed my flashlight to my Japanese student, he said, “Oh, good. It’s Toshiba.” And only then did I realize that it’s Toshiba. I was (and of course I still am) happy because it's a Japan-made product; the high quality is guaranteed. Haha. It’s a small one, yes, but I live in a very small place which I call bedroom/office/arts studio/music room/library/dining area, so this small flashlight can light up every corn

Petroleum Jelly--And Oh! My Feet!

Image
I like them so much that I bought three of them all at once.  My feet have always been dry…even when I was little. I was born with this skin type. I once joked to an acquaintance, “If you don’t know the meaning of dry, look at my feet… that’s what being dry means.” But of course… even though I embrace myself as I am, I always dreamed of having smoother, lovelier feet. That’s when I heard about Petroleum Jelly. After scrubbing my feet at night, I apply/spread this lovely product to my feet. And even when I go out, say, run errands, I apply it to my feet before I put my socks on. The results are amazing. My heels and soles became smoother, much smoother than they were. I enhance them by painting my toenails red or hot pink and presto… my feet!

Lucky Me Pancit Canton!

Image
my instant Lucky Me Pancit Canton recipe  Lucky Me Pancit Canton original flavor Lucky Me Pancit Canton is my “friend” in so many ways.         When I was a struggling university student, Lucky Me Pancit Canton was my luxury food. Fast forward to the time when I got my first job and I could somehow afford to invite friends over. I would cook Lucky Me Pancit Canton, 5-8 packs depending on how many people there were, and I would serve it with hot pan de sal and Coke or Pepsi. Whenever there were unexpected visitors during merienda (snack)  time, there’s Lucky Me Pancit Canton to save the day. About a month ago, I steamed some spinach and carrots but I was too busy and too tired to eat them. I just covered them at the countertop, went to bed, and totally forgot all about them. The next day, I wondered what to do with all those steamed carrots and spinach---and yes, you guessed it right—I stir fried   them and mixed them with the affordable but yummy, easy to prepare Lucky Me Panci

Watercolor, Paintbrushes, Illustrations Boards --My Friends

Image
some of my paintings taped on my bedroom wall  my makeshift studio which also serves as my study area/library from time to time  I paint. I paint watercolors of sunsets, landscapes, or anything that I feel like painting. I have no formal training in painting and I am still learning a lot—by myself. I paint when I am sad. I paint when I am upset. Interestingly, I can’t paint when it’s sunny, and neither can I paint when I’m happy. I don’t know why, but that’s how it works for me. My place is so small, but somehow, I managed to find a place for a makeshift studio. Right now I am nursing a broken heart and I’m doing my best to move on. (I secretly like someone but for some reasons, I should NOT nurture this feeling for him.) Someday, I will be okay. For now, my watercolor, paintbrushes,  and illustration boards will help me survive each day.

Oppo A54

Image
This is the front part and that flower is from my own garden. the box it came with  The constant inclement weather made me want to buy a new phone and just install the necessary apps such as Grab, Lalamove, Toktok, and Food Panda Delivery.(Coincidentally, I also needed   G-Cash account.)   But, the phone I had was too slow to download those apps, so I thought of having a new one. I wanted a simple phone so I wanted to buy the most affordable but very functional phone that I could find. My brother advised me that it was more sensible to buy this phone, Oppo A54, because at that time, it was a new release and it had all the features I needed. That was in August 2021. So here I am, with my Oppo A54. Seriously, I don’t even know the different features of the different phones out there. I just need the basic functions—internet access and social media, first and foremost—plus calculator and flashlight. I’m not even sure if this one has got a flashlight. Haha. Well… my computer technici

Eating Coffee (Whaattt?!)

Image
Coffee Picture 1 Coffee Picture 2 I eat coffee... Picture 3 I eat coffee. You read it right. I EAT coffee beans the way you eat your popcorn. I also eat ground coffee. I eat all types of coffee grinds. I would like to state first that I don’t own a percolator (I have one but it’s 15 hours away by bus and this is another story. Hahaha). I just boil ground coffee in a small pot (the pot you use when you go camping), and pour it to my coffee cup while straining it at the same time. March 2020, the lockdown due to Covid 19 was implemented. At that time, I was still adjusting to the “new normal” and, amidst the confusion and uncertainties, even the most basic task felt like an enormous duty.   One day I got too lazy to even look for my metal coffee strainer, so I just poured the freshly brewed coffee into my cup, with all the unstrained coffee grounds which I ate, of course. I instantly liked the bitter taste of the coarsely ground coffee and its creamy aftertaste. Soon, I was eating on

OUCH! MY BANGS!

Image
right after I "trimmed" my bangs almost a  month after I "trimmed" my bangs  OUCH! MY BANGS! That’s exactly what I said when I realized what I did to my bangs. I just wanted to trim my bangs…but it was already too late when I realized that I was not holding the pair of scissors correctly. I inserted my thumb in the finger ring, and so the upper blade, the one that chops off the hair, was facing upward. With one stroke I cut my bangs---and I felt something slide. Lo and behold—this is the result. This happened in July of this year, 2021. My bangs are a lot longer now, and I have no qualms about trimming them again if needed…but of course, when that time comes, I’ll make sure to be holding the pair of scissors the right way.
