Selfish, Being Selfish (And Similar Verbs)
Let’s solve another problem of
students of ESL or English as a Second Language.
When we say a person is selfish, we
are referring to his personality.
You are selfish. You are kind. You
are rude. You are unreasonable.= All of these are declarations of someone's personality or being.
When we say that a person is being
selfish, we are talking only about a particular instance. The person is not
selfish, but at that moment, he is displaying selfishness due to some reasons.
